Basic Controls

Gang Beasts’ basic movement uses the classic FPS-style WASD. Because of its unique physics-based behavior, simultaneous multi-key inputs are frequently required for actions like jumping, crouching, and lifting. For example, the “climb” using a two-handed grab plus jump, and the “run/sit toggle” by holding Space are fundamental operations. These will be covered later in “Combo Examples.”

Camera & Spectator

While spectating, use the arrow keys to change camera angles, and </> to quickly switch the focus target. In multi-round brawls, instant viewpoint switching directly improves situational awareness. To learn efficiently while spectating, it’s recommended to internalize the role split between </> and ←/→.

Combo Examples

Gang Beasts’ unique keybindings enable “combos.” The basics combine “grab,” “posture change,” and “jump/kick.” Dropkicks excel at poking, climbing is essential for recovery, and power slides are effective for ambushes and closing distance. Input rhythm matters; success becomes consistent when the hold timing for Ctrl and M is kept steady.

ClimbLeft Click + Right Click (grab with both hands) → Space
BackflipSpace → hold M
Power SlideHold M + Hold Ctrl + Move

PC Only (Debug/Sandbox)

On PC, there are extended features useful for practice and custom testing, such as changing game speed and spawning objects/opponents. Memorizing + / − / 0 for speed control, 1–7 for spawns, Shift/Ctrl + numbers for opponent generation, and F1 for day/night toggle will accelerate technique research. These are often unnecessary in regular matches, so use them with intent based on context.
