V Rising is a top-down, open-world survival action game where you play as an awakened vampire. To expand your domain, you'll need to avoid sunlight, build a sprawling castle, and hunt down powerful bosses.

Mastering your keyboard and mouse controls is key to surviving. The game requires MOBA-style precision aiming during fast-paced combat and careful positioning when building your base.

Movement and Camera Controls

You move using the standard WASD keys, just like in most PC action games. To rotate the camera angle freely, hold down the Right Mouse Button and drag.

For long-distance travel, use Auto-Run (Mouse 4 / Side Button 1) to give your left hand a break.

Skills and Combat Controls

Combat in V Rising is fast-paced. You'll rely on a mix of basic mouse attacks, weapon-specific skills (Q and E), your dodge or "travel skill" (Spacebar), and magic spells (R, C, and T).

You can also trigger Vampire Powers—like transforming into a wolf or rat—by holding Shift and pressing a number key (1–4).

Practice swapping between these quickly to keep the upper hand.

Managing spell cooldowns and knowing when to dodge (Spacebar) will make or break your fights. If you see an enemy telegraphing an attack while you're casting, immediately cancel your spell by pressing X or clicking the Middle Mouse Button (Mouse 3).

Action Bar

The quick slots at the bottom of the screen are bound to the 1–9 keys. Memorize the numbers for your most frequently used items so you can access them instantly.

Weapon swapping (jumping between swords, axes, maces, or spears) mid-combat to chain skills is a powerful tactic. Map your main weapons and healing items to the easily reachable 1–4 keys for seamless transitions.

General Controls

Interacting with objects, gathering materials, and looting are all bound to the F key. Canceling abilities is mapped to the X key. Both are right next to your WASD home position, making it easy to hit them on the fly.

Because they're so close to your movement keys, misclicks can happen early on—just keep playing, and muscle memory will take over.

Panels and UI Menus

These shortcuts open and close the interface screens you need to progress, from castle building and crafting to boss tracking.

You'll be pressing O to track bosses (V Blood) and M to check the world map constantly, so commit these to memory.

Building Controls

These controls apply when you enter the castle Building Menu (press B). You'll frequently use the Q and E keys to rotate objects and hold the Spacebar to dismantle walls, workbenches, and storage chests for efficient layout planning.

If you want to cancel placing an object or clear your selection, quickly press the Spacebar or Esc key.

Once these become as second nature as WASD, your building speed will improve drastically.
